Overview
Bramble is a treasure of reclaimed oak and restoration, set in a quiet corner of Hesleyside's beautiful parkland. You'll feel the love that’s gone into the place the moment you step through the door and every second you spend idling by the wood burner, in the massive bed or on the recliners on the porch. Outside, the covered wood-fired bath is a fabulous place to soak and steam, but it’s not only man-made beauty you’re in for. The woods bustle with deer and foxes that might wander by, and owls that will hoot you to sleep, while the majesty of the stars is shown in all its glory by the clarity of Gold tier Dark Skies.
There’s great walking all around, the historic site of Hadrian’s Wall within easy reach and nobody bar a few other Hesleyside guests, all at spaces elsewhere on the land, to disturb you. It’s entirely likely that this wonderful work of restoration will do the same for you.
As featured on George Clarke's Amazing Spaces on Channel 4.

Bramble is in a beautiful location, is spotlessly clean and everything you would need is provided (toiletries are what you would get in some 5* hotels). About an hour’s drive to the coast but a very scenic route to get there, would definitely recommend.

A lovely Monday to Friday stay at Bramble with my house abandon and girls (age 9 and 4). Quirky and cosy accommodation with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. I’m not a camper but there were just enough luxury touches (electricity, en suite, kitchenette and very comfy bed) to make this enjoyable for me whilst retaining enough of an authentic camping feel to satisfy the rest of the family. The girls (and their dad) lived cooking over the fire pit and we all enjoyed walking in the woods looking for the local wildlife - we even went on a successful badger hunt at dusk. The location is perfect for exploring the surrounding area and we were spoilt for choice for things to do. Would thoroughly recommend.
06/08/2018Nicola
Great stay, Bramble was a lovely large shepherds hut that had everything we needed. Warm once the burner was on. Peaceful location, shame the weather wasn’t in our favour for the stars.

We had a lovely stay in Bramble... The location is great - it's peaceful and relaxing but close to Bellingham village and Kielder Water. The hut is great - very comfy, cosy and well equipped. We stayed in summer but it's so cosy I think it would be great in winter too. We'd love to go back sometime.
11/08/2015Laura
We stayed for three nights, arriving late afternoon on the Saturday. My husband and son were especially thrilled (having not really taken much notice of where we were actually going beforehand!). They both thought the hut was brilliant. My son especially loving the climbing wall in his bedroom and the fire pit outside. We spent some of the weekend walking around the grounds of Hesleyside and then to nearby Hareshaw Linn, but mainly we chilled at the hut, reading, listening to the radio and playing board games!
01/08/2015jane
Magic - quiet and peacefull with great walks helped by great weather. Walking on Hadrians Wall and up waterfall at Bellingham. Great local food.

we stayed at Hesleyside huts in Northumberland, in Bramble a converted shepards hut. We are a family of 5 and I was a little concerned about our 17 month old sleeping in the pull out bed in her older brothers room. I needn't of worried as they thought it was a great adventure. Hesleyside is a beautiful, peaceful and welcoming place to stay. We were welcomed to explore almost all of the grounds, including the forest and river. A telescope was provided, along with a star chart, enabling us to make the most of being in the national dark park. We loved the little thoughtful touches, a kilner jar filled with marshmallows for toasting, a bunch of daffodils, homemade cake, tea and coffee and a bag of "traditional" sweets for the children. We wanted a place to get away from it all. Somewhere for the children to run wild and have fun, no tv or computers or phones to distract us. Hesleyside gave us this and so much more, a great adventure and time to be together as a family.
29/03/2015claire
A truly romantic place to stay. Lovely little touches from the hosts, marshmallows for the fire and cake! Great location for star gazing and great countryside walks. The hut was amazing with great attention to detail and very comfy!
24/02/2015Karl
We had a wonderful stay in Bramble during February. The hut was so comfortable, really tastefully furnished throughout. We also had everything we needed. The wood burner made it really cosy. We ordered the breakfast basket for one of the mornings, it was delicious, local produce and a nice touch. We also met one of the owners and his daughter and they were really friendly. We have already booked to go back later in the year.
15/02/2015Jason
"At truly memorable stay at 'Bramble' the larger of the three huts at Hesleyside. The attention to detail and craftsmanship that went into the construction of the huts was exceptional and every comfort had been catered for. We enjoyed three wonderful nights and particularly enjoyed firing up the wood burning stove to enjoy a cosy meals by a roaring fire. Our bed was probably the most comfortable we have ever slept in and the hut was a delight to spend time in. Clear skies above enabled us to take in the spectacular night sky of an evening and we also enjoyed walking around the glorious Hesleyside estate. William and Anna, the owners of Hesleyside, have created a beautiful and unique way of enjoying the best of the outdoor surroundings in luxurious accommodation."

Lovely three nights in Bramble despite the weather. Very romantic setting and it felt miles from anywhere with lots to do on the door step.

We stayed for three nights, arriving late afternoon on the Saturday. My husband and son were especially thrilled (having not really taken much notice of where we were actually going beforehand!). They both thought the hut was brilliant. My son especially loving the climbing wall in his bedroom and the fire pit outside. We spent some of the weekend walking around the grounds of Hesleyside and then to nearby Hareshaw Linn, but mainly we chilled at the hut, reading, listening to the radio and playing board games!

we stayed at Hesleyside huts in Northumberland, in Bramble a converted shepards hut.
