Overview
Half an hour’s drive from Nottingham, on the outskirts of the small village of Plungar, you can find Austin on a working farm, surrounded by nothing but green fields. You’ll park up and take your stuff via wheelbarrow through wildflower meadow to the furthest point from the farmhouse – and discover your own little world for a few days.
Inside the hut, you’ll find all you need. Your king size bed (sans foot board for your taller folk), has a view of the great outdoors without having to wiggle an inch under the sheets. A small kitchen – comes complete with a two-ring induction hob, kettle, microwave and a fridge, should the weather keep you indoors. And your indoor bathroom, where you can grab a shower to start or finish the day’s adventures.
With the sun shining, you’ll find yourself outside for the most part, cooking in the covered outdoor kitchen – making pizzas in the outdoor oven, or simply kicking back in a lounger and watching sparks fly skyward. You may also be tempted off site, taking on the many walking and cycle routes, finding market towns for their independent shops and cafés, perhaps even doing a parachute jump with the local daredevils. What’s almost guaranteed, is that you’ll be sinking into the wood-fired hot tub by the time the sun’s setting.

My girlfriend and I decided to have a Christmas break at the Austin hut it and did not disappoint! The owner of the huts (Sarah) was lovely and so helpful, she was easy to contact and even put out Christmas decorations for us! The hut was clean, cosy and had instructions for the pizza oven and hot tub outside! I would highly recommend these huts for a small getaway or even an extended stay!

We have had a wonderful and relaxing break. The accommodation was beautiful and of a high quality. Everything you might need was provided. The view from the shepherds hut was lovely and the location incredibly quiet. Local villages offered amenities including lovely walks and pubs. Our host was very welcoming and made us feel looked after. The hot tub was a real treat and added to the feeling of tranquility.

Austin is nestled in a tranquil space on the Grantham canal. He is the perfect getaway for a couple (we were escaping the children) , where we found peace, quiet and luxury all in one. The hut is equipped for all your needs to make your stay comfortable, the bed was very cosy, the hot tub ingenious and fabulous after a huge walk. Yes it takes a while to heat but it is totally worth it. We used the pizza oven on the first night and our shop bought pizzas tasted fab. Surrounding area has some great places, we walked to Belvoir castle and had a lovely time mooching the shops and listening to live music with a pint (Saturdays and Sundays). We stopped for coffee in Stathern (highly recommend) its a little village shop with fab cafe. Sausages roll and gluten free brownie were fab. We are at The Windmill at Redmile, staff were lovely and friendly and the food was incredible, best meal out we have had in a very long time! I would highly recommend a stay at Tin and Wood. Sarah is lovely and so accommodating.

Had a wonderful stay here, time to decompress and chill out in the hot tub and using the pizza oven. Loved the location and really well equipped huts and spaces. What a great break! Definitely make the effort to make pizza and use the hot tub but don't underestimate how long they take to heat up! Logs are provided at additional cost.
17/06/2024Lily
We had a lovely couple of nights in Austin. Our cabin was cosy. Everything we needed was there and on the edge of a beautiful wild flower meadow.
20/05/2024Caroline
Sarah the host was lovely and very helpful. Hut itself was gorgeously done -very comfortable. Easy walks to pubs which was good. Pizza oven was fun to use and really made the stay a fun one.
19/01/2024Cydney
Cosy and relaxing stay in a very well thought out shepherds hut. No details were left unforgotten to ensure a great stay. We loved the log fired hot tub and the quality of the stylish decor in the hut. Despite visiting in early January, we were warm and cosy throughout our stay.
05/01/2024Emma
We loved our stay. It was so peaceful, although there were 2 other huts we didn’t hear a peep. The location was perfect and had everything we needed in the hut. Luckily we had beautiful weather until the day of check out in which it poured down but the sunshine made all the difference. The host (Sarah & her dog Pickle) were lovely and couldn’t do more for us. The only negative thing we would comment on was that the Dutch tub took 3-4 hours to heat and it needed re-heating again the next day, there is also an airfield near by so skydiving planes flew across quite often but it wasn’t much an issue for us.
10/11/2023Megan
Absolutely amazing - couldn’t recommend enough! The accommodation was amazing with little surprises and personal touches throughout. Sarah was always there if you had any questions too. Had the best time and would definitely return
11/10/2023Jess
We had a really lovely time staying in Austin. The owners had done a fantastic job in making each of the 3 huts feel completely secluded. Finish and quality throughout the hut was fantastic. We really enjoyed using the outdoor tub too!
09/10/2023Chrissy
Sarah was an amazing host and had thought about all the necessities for the stay. The accommodation was cozy and clean and there were amazing views. It was private as you could not see the other huts. The log burners were easy to use. There were clear instructions on how to use them. I stayed on my own and felt safe throughout my stay.
18/09/2023Diana
Had a thoroughly relaxing weekend at Tin and Wood. Really peaceful, lovely setting - just what we needed after a busy week at work. There are two other huts nearby but you can't see them and wouldn't know they were there. Followed a couple of Sarah's recommendations - open water swimming which was amazing and walked to the Windmill pub where we had a fantastic meal. Austin was decorated to a high standard with everything you need and the bed is really comfy with a fantastic view of the meadow. Sarah has thought of everything and all the instructions left are really clear. Absolutely loved it and would thoroughly recommend it.

We had a wonderful stay in Austin in June. It's such a comfortable space and great location to go walking. I had seen huts before but always thought they would be too small as we are tall, but these are really spacious - the bed is huge and comfy. We did the Belvior Castle circular walk which was included in the hut and it was very easy to follow - stopping at the Engine shed for a wander round the shops and a pint in the sunshine, then Stathern for lunch. All the routes in the area are well signposted and walking along the Canal is lovely - one way leads to the Windmill pub in Redmile or the other way leads to Hose and then back to Harby for a pub lunch the next day - all of which was on Sarah's list of things to do. Then back to the hut to use the Dutch Tub, having a gin and tonic or two watching the wildlife and the small planes coming into land, or just chilling with cheese and wine on one night when it rained for a bit. Sarah has really thought of everything not just in the recommendations, but in the huts themselves to make your stay truly relaxing. Highly recommended.
23/06/2023Lisa
We had a fantastic stay in Tin & Wood. It was a great escape from London life for 3 days and we were able to really switch off and relax. The hut is beautiful and really well finished. It was great to be able to use the pizza oven and bbq for dinner. Belvoir castle and Chequers Inn are definitely worth a visit while your there also!
16/06/2023Sarah
We have just spent 2 nights in 'Austin' a cosy shepards hut. It was amazing ! Set in a beautiful area we felt like we were alone. The hut next to us was occupied but we couldn't see or hear them at all. The hut was beautiful, and very well equipped. The outside area was also lovely with a Dutch hot tub and fire pit/ pizza oven with clear videos of how to use. All in all a perfect weekend. Also, Sarah the owner and her dog, Pickle were so lovely and helpful.
19/05/2023Sharon
We enjoyed a wonderful long weekend at Austin. The hut was decorated beautifully; it doesn’t come across fully in the photos but when you arrive you can see that every style detail has been considered. Externally, the views are stunning and leave your feeling cut off from society… despite lovely little towns within a short drive.
05/05/2023Jaime
Really great romantic stay! Lovely walks near and local pubs.
21/04/2023Olivia
Really beautiful place and surrounding area. The cabin was really clean and well presented. Had everything we needed and the instructions on the tablet were amazing. Answered any questions we had and the host Sarah was really friendly and helpful.
17/04/2023Sarah
We recently stayed at Tin & Wood in the Austin shepherds hut and we cannot wait to go back! Sarah was an extremely friendly and helpful host and was on hand for anything that we needed. The hut itself was perfect, every detail had been thought about and it had a lovely cosy feel to it. The woodfired hot tub was great and we even experimented with the woodfired pizza oven. The views are beautiful from the hut and there is plenty to do and see in the area, as well as some really great pubs - The Windmill in Redmile was a personal favourite. We are already looking to book for later in the year :)
14/04/2023Lauren
Idyllic location. Beautiful accommodation with an amazing Dutch tub. Host made us feel very welcome.
20/03/2023Emma
We booked to stay at Tin and Wood for the third time this March. We absolutely adore the site, in particular the Austin hut. They are fantastic to stay in at any time of the year. In colder months they are perfectly cosy and warm. Every detail of the huts are homely and welcoming. We particularly like the attention to detail including leaving skewers marshmallows to toast on the fire. The log burning outdoor baths are brilliant especially at night with a clear sky. The huts cannot be faulted and we will continue to return again and again.
13/03/2023Becki
It was lovely - very relaxing. The cabins are really perfect for 2 people, very clean and spacious.
27/02/2023Lea
Incredible shepherds hut with everything you’d ever need. Incredible attention to detail, design and cleanliness. We loved every inch of the space
11/11/2022Tiffany
We had a wonderful stay at the hut! It was very spacious inside, yet giving you all the necessities In such a tiny space! It was perfect for a quiet getaway, having the hot tub just outside and the log burner! The views from the the hut were spectacular.
31/10/2022Maisie
We had the most wonderful stay in Austin. Set in an idyllic location it was so relaxing. A very spacious shepherds hut and so fun to have the outdoor bath and pizza oven. Loved our stay- wish we could have stayed longer! Sarah was an extremely helpful host and gave you so much useful information
14/10/2022Emily
Wonderful location and a fantastic hut to stay in. Good balance of rustic yet modern facilities. Felt like a home from home.
28/09/2022Eion
Booked to celebrate a special birthday. Greeted on arrival by the host, everything was as per the web page, very well presented and immaculately clean. Had no reason whatsoever to contact the host after check in as everything was in place with instructions. 2 days and nights of bliss, relaxing, cooking outdoor, star gazing from the hot tub and sleeping soundly in a very comfy bed. What was not to thoroughly enjoy!!
23/09/2022Steve
What an amazing stay at Austin. Everything was perfect. The hut, the location and the amenities. The hut had everything we needed and more. The bed was so comfy and we both had a brilliant nights sleep. The pizza oven and hot tube were great and easy to use. The surroundings were so peaceful but only 5 minutes walk to the Anchor pub which was very friendly. If you are after a peaceful relaxing time this is the place to me. We will definitely return. What an amazing find.
26/08/2022Carolyn
We stayed at Austin for a long weekend and were really pleased with the high quality of the stay. Great location away from all the hustle and bustle. Shepherds hut was finished to a really high standard and the hot tub was brilliant.
19/08/2022Nathan
We had a lovely time at Austin. Very private and peaceful
17/08/2022Carey
We had a fabulous stay in Austin! It was exactly what we were after - beauty, nature and peace. After a hectic time as a family, it was the perfect place to reconnect as a couple on our first child-free weekend in a long time. The accommodation itself could not be faulted. Cute & clean, and the huts are spaced out enough from each other that it gives you that Alone in the middle of nowhere feel. Sarah was the perfect host - providing a hands off approach to accompany that private escape feeling, yet still giving that personal touch. We received a detailed, informative E-mail from her a few days before our stay which answered any queries we had thought of before we even arrived! She also suggested things to do locally which was a great addition - inspiring us to take a day trip to Belvoir Castle, followed by an evening out at a proper country pub. She came out to greet us on arrival and, as we didn't catch her upon check out we received a thank you/goodbye text message. The outdoor Dutch tub is definitely a must! We recommend taking a dip in the evenings - it's the perfect spot to watch the sun set, and you can see so many stars across the whole space. Perfect to unwind!
12/08/2022Thomas
We had a very relaxing stay at Austin. It was during the heatwave so although we booked this place because it has a wood fired hot tub, we filled it up, didn't light up the logs, and used it to cool down! It was so relaxing and peaceful.

A great short get away, soaking in the bath at sunset and enjoying pizza from the pizza oven! Could not recommend enough.

We had the most lovely stay at the Austin at Tin and Wood! Such a peaceful and relaxing long weekend with beautiful views and walks. The hosts were friendly and helpful and they had thought of everything you could need for a little stay in their beautiful hut.

We had the most lovely 2 nights at Austin . It was beautifully designed , comfortable cosy and clean We were lucky to have glorious weather and sat outside until late at night watching spectacular sunsets and enjoying the views and the peace and quiet

A wonderful little hut, with everything you would need for a peaceful stay. Small but perfectly formed, we loved the quirks of having to light fires to warm the outside tub and make pizza in the outdoor oven. The location is quiet and serene with lovely walks right on the doorstep. The hostess Sarah made us feel welcomed and was able to help us with any queries. The perfect stay, would 100% recommend and already can't wait to stay again

Booked Austin for my boyfriends birthday, so glad I did, we had the best time. Everything was amazing, the hot tub was lush and easy to use, and the pizza oven was amazing also, we made some amazing yummy pizzas. The cabins were so clean and modern, Sarah had thought about so many little details. I would definitely recommend staying here and we can’t wait to come back!

Amazing 2 night stay in Austin, we wish we could have stayed longer! Warm welcome on arrival from Sarah with easy instructions in the hut on how to use everything. The pizza oven and wood fired tub were great, with extra logs available to buy if you needed them. The hut itself was immaculately clean with a big comfortable bed and stocked with all the things you need. We picked one of the recommended pubs and walked along the canal to the windmill Inn for lunch which was a lovely easy walk with nice views. Would definitely return. Thankyou!

Super relaxing stay, it was really comfy and had everything that we needed. Loved waking up the sound of birds and the privacy the hut gave us. The pizza oven and wood fired hot tub were really good and easy to use following the instructions. The owner was so welcoming and the information provided was very useful. Hope to go back!

Had a fabulous stay in Austin at Tin and Wood, we were really looking forward to it as it had to be rescheduled several times due to Covid but it was really worth the wait! Everything was of a really high standard, the hut itself was really warm and cosy and it was such a relaxing place to just chill out for a couple of days. The Dutch tub was a fun experience but you need to make sure you have enough time on your hands as it does take a few hours to heat up but we had a real giggle getting it all set up and then also heating up the other outdoor oven for pizzas afterwards. We booked a meal at Dickies Farm Dining for Sunday Lunch - it was one of the best meals we have had for a long time - 100% recommend both!

We absolutely loved everything about our stay. The cabin was immaculate and had everything we needed. The hot tub was easy to use as was the grill and really made our stay memorable. The Windmill Pub was about an hours walk away and had great food and a lovely local atmosphere. We also enjoyed nearby Belvoir Castle and did some shopping in Nottingham. Our stay was peaceful and relaxing and exactly what we needed. Would definitely recommend.

We were looking for a cosy quiet break in a country location, with a hot tub. We found Tin and Wood, and it ticked every box on our wish list. Our initial contact with Sarah, the owner, confirmed our choice, she was informative, and helpful. The hut was easy to find and everything was exactly as described, the parking place, the track heading to the three huts, and the useful wheelbarrow to help get our things from the car to our hut, only a short walk but this made it much easier. The hut, facilities and outside space were well presented, very clean and tidy, some quirky well placed 'notes' helped to remind us about how to separate the rubbish, where to find the extra logs for the hut tub etc. Using the handy 'tablet' in the hut we easily understood how to use the wood fired hot tub and log burner with clear video guides, as well as giving numerous tips about places to visit locally. Hot tub was private, easy to heat up and had a great view over the surrounding countryside.....so relaxing. Inside the hut was cosy and well appointed, lovely bathroom and shower and a massive, comfortable bed, with all the required toiletries, kitchen utensils, plates, cups, inc coffee, tea etc.

I booked Austin for 2 nights to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. We had a brilliant time! Everything about Tin and Wood went above and beyond. The huts were even nicer than the pictures and they had everything you would need! We had gorgeous weather and so were able to get out in the local area for some walks. The hot tub was a lovely touch! Thanks so much for a great stay!
21/03/2022Anna
What a wonderful place, perfect for a laid back, switch off weekend. We’ll definitely be back and recommend to friends and family. As it’s only half an hour from home it was super convenient, but felt like a world away. The hut is beautiful and has everything you could need and more! The tablet with recommendations and instructions was a great touch and really helpful.
11/03/2022Lucie
We had a really lovely time. Sarah the host is very welcoming and the hut is to an extremely high standard

After searching for a mini break for my partners milestone birthday I wanted something unique and different, I was on a budget and after searching through the website I came across tin and wood. It wasn’t a strenuous drive and it was exactly what I was looking for. The hut was beautiful decorated, with all amenities thought of, there was instructions and useful information on how to use everything within the hut which was extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend.

Sarah from Tin and Wood was brilliant from start to finish. We received plenty of information in good time to be able to plan for our stay and not have to worry about how or where anything was upon arrival, the process was completely stress free.

I have no words to describe how absolutely magnificent our Wedding Anniversary was spending it at Tin & Wood the Austin hut/wagon was. I could bot have booked a better little spot! It was beyond perfect & everything that could be thought of was covered by the host Sarah. She has honestly created a little heavan on earth in this unique special place. From parking, carrying of luggage, tea & special filter coffee, marshmallows by the fire, wood for the log burner, pizza oven & the hot spa, just incredible. My husband who had no idea where we were going could not get enough of it all. The log burner, the accommodation, the view & most importantly the privacy & the peace & quiet! The outside amenities pizza oven to die for & the hot spa a must for a cold night, beautiful experience. We did incredible walks, Belvoir Castle & the Engine Yard are a must.. Absolutely breath taking. The local pubs & restaurants which Sarah covers so well are exactly how she describes them. Sarah has every small detail down to a "T" explained perfectly. So beautifully clean & just too wonderful for words! I could go on, a must for anyone who enjoys been so close to nature.

What a stunning little place , considering storm Arwen paid us a visit we still managed to cook pizza in the outside oven and take a long soak in the wood fire tub that Sarah had very generously lit for us Pre our arrival . The inside of Austin was perfectly decorated, spotless and super cosy with everything you need for a relaxing night in by the log burner. We visited Belvoir castle had a gorgeous lunch at The Dirty Duck , then later on had a magnificent dinner at The Nags Head . Great location , beautiful surroundings and very helpful host . Most recommended

We had an amazing time at the Austin! It had everything we could have needed for a week off grid. The hot tub and pizza oven were perfect and provided us with great evenings in. The bed was super comfy and we had hot running water and underfloor heating so we were super cozy throughout the entire week! Our host was so accommodating and gave us loads of great recommendations and instructions on how to use the hot tub and pizza oven and even how to make a super easy pizza dough. The area is also very beautiful and there are loads of great things to explore and do - the Austin felt very isolated and private but still very close to a lot of pubs, shopping, restaurants and activities.
22/11/2021Alica
The shepherds hut was really well finished and beautifully arranged for 2 people to stay in comfort. Each hut felt secluded and the hot tub was particularly special with views across the fields. Sarah sent some really helpful hints and tips before arrival and was available, if needed, throughout our stay.
15/10/2021Laura
We had a wonderful weekend here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We explored nearby Belvior Castle, had a mooch around the Engine Yard shops, went for a local walk & then spent a day doing nothing but relaxing in the hot tub, eating pizza from the pizza oven & back again! We also ate a fabulous meal at one of the recommended pubs near by. The location is idyllic & the welcome was very warm, with views over the rolling countryside & it feels like you are the only people for miles. I would recommend for anyone who wants to completely switch off & enjoy a quiet weekend, away from the hustle & bustle of every day life. Absolutely just what we needed.

I stayed for two nights in Austin at Tin and Wood and didn't want to leave! Sarah ensured an easy check in and all essential information was provided. Austin was so cosy and beautiful surrounded by peace and quiet. I really enjoyed making pizzas using the outdoor oven before relaxing in the outdoor tub. Absolute bliss! Thankyou and I'm certain I'll be back one day soon.

We have just got back from a few days away at the Tin and Wood, staying in Austin. It's was fantastic! What a great experience staying in a Shepherd's Hut surrounded with nature, great views, our own hot tub, pizza oven, king size bed, etc etc. Everything provided for us and a truly unique and wonderful experience.

Such a lovely, relaxing clean place. Was so lovely we booked it for mother in law to relax which she did. Added bonus was the hot tub and views

Absolutely amazing. Such meticulous attention to detail in and out the hut - everything so clean too You can catch a sunrise and sunset all from the Dutch bath if you want
19/05/2021Maggie
We had the most wonderful stay! The hut was beautifully decorated, super clean, and well kitted out with a warm shower, great little kitchen, wood burner, etc. The location was perfect with gorgeous views and a lovely walk along the canal to a big Sunday roast! Sarah, the host, welcomed us and set the hot tub going before we arrived so we could use it before the rain kicked in which we really appreciated. She was so lovely and helpful providing loads of info before we arrived too. We completely loved everything about this place and are keen to book to come again!
07/05/2021Amelia
The whole trip was absolutely perfect! Sarah greeted us when we arrived and instantly made us feel welcome, giving us tips and advice on places to visit! We used the dutch tub every night as it was honestly one of the most relaxing things i've done in a long time. The cabin interiors were lovely and it was the perfect mix of being super cosy inside whilst being surrounded by fresh open air. We stayed for 3 nights and it felt too soon to leave - would definitely recommend booking as many nights as you can! It was great to switch off without wifi, however there is good 4G connection if you do need it. Overall would totally recommend to anyone!
23/04/2021Alice
We had a lovely time, accommodation was fully equipped with every we needed. Very quite location with good access to walks and pubs. Owner provided guides and essentials and was contactable if needed. Will will definitely be returning another time.

This was our second stay at Austin. The first being in March 2019. It was interesting to see the difference in the countryside between March & October. We enjoyed our stay just as much as the first time. We used the hot tub twice this time, with champagne of course. We never did find the cork. A short walk to the pub, The Anchor inn, we did twice for wine and conversation. We have done a lot of clamping in the last 4 years all of them pure heaven but Austin is in our favourites list.
16/10/2020Paul
We had a lovely time. The hut was exquisite with lots of extra touches. The setting was particularly idyllic.
09/10/2020Elyse
We absolutely loved our stay in Austin. All of the little touches, the cosy feeling, making pizzas outdoors, a glass of wine in the hot tub, beautiful sunsets and sunny mornings, walking along the canal for a delicious meal at a local pub, watching the planes landing at the nearby airfield, the birds singing and the fresh countryside air. Everything was just perfect and we both wished we could have stayed so much longer.

wonderful, best holiday of my life.
18/09/2020jas
We had the most perfect relaxing weekend staying in Austin. Absolutely gorgeous hut, with all mod cons. The bed was so wonderfully comfy we could have stayed in it all weekend. The hot tub was fab, star spotting on an evening after making pizza.. Just perfection.

We really enjoyed our stay. The hut is finished to a very high standard and had everything you needed and more. There is also lots to do that is a short drive away, and pubs that are a walk away.
28/02/2020Hannah
I could not speak more highly of this lovely shepherds hut, it’s idyllic! A toasty cabin with a log burner and under floor heating we were never shy of warmth. Sarah was very attentive, providing us with logs for the dutchtub and pizza oven and a breakfast hamper upon arrival with local meats and eggs fresh of the farm. There are lovely walks nearby and some great local pubs to grab some food. We’re already planning our next visit!
31/01/2020Minnie
I cant praise this place enough! I have never been so relaxed in all of my life. Absolutely stunningly beautiful.
17/01/2020Charlotte
The Austin is, in a word, amazing. Everything about it, from its location to the quality of its fittings was just brilliant. It was very comfortable and clearly impeccably looked designed and looked after. The underfloor heating and the indoor wood burner meant it stayed perfectly warm and cosy. We absolutely loved the location of the Austin too. So many nice walks, pubs and restaurants. As well as being walking distance to Belvoir castle. A brilliant place for a relaxing mini break in some glorious countryside!
03/01/2020Oliver
We arrived at Austin where we were greeted by Sarah who showed us around and how to use everything! It was easy to find, we had such a detailed welcome email so we couldn’t go wrong and were able to make plans regarding shopping and food etc before we arrived. It’s located perfectly, so pretty and clean and just absolutely perfect. Would highly recommend and definitely return.

Our stay was just perfect! The hut is in a beautiful area with a lovely view. It is decorated to a high standard with lots of little extras to make your stay super comfortable. The outdoor area is lovely and the addition of the hot tub makes it extra special. Perfect place to relax and unwind for a few days.

We absolutely loved our stay at Austin, what a lovely sherpards hut with everything you can imagine. We loved the little touches such as the marshmallows for roasting on the fire. The pizza oven was fabulous and we made pizzas both nights because we loved it so much! The breakfast hamper went down a treat and we loved cooking the meat on the fire in the morning. Looking at the stars while being in the hot tub is something I will never forget. Thanks to Sarah for being an amazing host! We can't wait to come back! :)
28/10/2019Rebecca
Amazing!!! Quiet location, peace and quiet, lovely hosts, couldn't do enough, privacy, lovely soak in the hot tub, everything you could need to make meals or enjoy the pizza oven/ bbq pit xx
07/10/2019Stephanie
I booked the Austin cabin as a surprise for my partner's birthday. The hospitality of Sarah was amazing, I contacted her prior to our stay to arrange the cabin to have some balloons to decorate the cabin. She was very helpful and we arranged the delivery to their farm prior to our arrival. When we arrived it was perfect. Full handover of the cabin and advice on walks, pubs, etc was given.
30/09/2019Lucy
We had a gorgeous couple of days at Austin, everything about it was fantastic. The hut was beautifully decorated, the location was gorgeous and peaceful and Sarah was lovely. The hot tub was just glorious under the stars. Perfect.
25/09/2019Jen
We had the most amazing time. The views are beautiful. We made good use of the pizza oven and the hot tub. The hut itself has everything you could want, fridge, hob, underfloor heating, massive comfy bed. The bathroom is amazing. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing weekend away. Will be booking again.
13/09/2019Tom
The shepherds hut was great, well thought out. Hot tub was nice but was very windy so not as enjoyable as it could have been. Had a lovely stay.
04/09/2019Julie
Had a wonderful stay is the beautiful little cabin / trailer. Very well designed inside, and complimented by a great outdoor space. Hot tub was amazing, pizza oven was great, and plenty of walks available starting from the front door. Couldn't have asked for more!
23/08/2019Alex
We were met by an enthusiastic host who loved her cycling! She shared her knowledge and gave us some great routes for our adventures even printing maps for us! The hut was amazing finished to a high standard throughout and every little detail had been thought of, from phone plug, to plasters to cereal and marshmallows! The pizza oven and hot bath were novelty experiences. Ones that won’t be forgotten. The location was marvellous for getting lost and experiencing some lovely country pubs! We shall definitely be returning.
21/08/2019Dorne
It was fantastic - just what we wanted for a couple of girly nights away. The hut was equipped with everything we needed, and the hot tub and pizza oven were an extra treat! We were within walking distance from lots of lovely villages and country pubs, and took a long walk to the Engine Yard at Belvoir Castle on one afternoon. Also loved Dickies Dining in the evening for one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten! All in all a fantastic stay and we will definitely be back!
31/07/2019Natalie
Amazing venue and location, host was lovely. Nice walks and country pubs not to far away, great facilities, hot tub, pizza oven and nice views to sit out with a drink in the evening
24/07/2019Ian
Surpassed expectations, a beautiful shepherds hut with everything you need, lots of attention to detail, in a private and stunning location. Host was very helpful and interested in you as an individual customer. The grounds down to the unused canal had been seeded with wildflowers and the display was stunning, enjoyed by a variety of birds. Quirky features such as a wood fired hot tub and pizza oven added to the fun. Basic welcome provisions such as tea, fresh milk, good ground coffee, muesli, eggs meant you could arrive and have refreshments before you shop for other provisions. Very thoughtful and much appreciated for a short stay.
12/06/2019Deb
Cosy, cosy, cosy! The shepherds hut was perfect for relaxing and unwinding. Pretty setting alongside the canal especially with the meadow flowers.
07/06/2019Helen
A brilliant stay at the lovely Austin. Sarah was helpful and accommodating. Austin has been beautifully decorated and finished to the highest standard. It’s equipped with everything you’ll need and full of thoughtful touches. The wood fired hot tub makes for a perfect evening in a beautiful setting. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Austin. Keep doing what you’re doing, Sarah!
03/06/2019Matthew
Our stay in Austin was fantastic. We made pizzas, walked along the canal and lazed in the gorgeous hot tub every evening. The shepherds hut was really well set up and had everything you’d need for a lazy weekend!
24/05/2019Elizabeth
Thoroughly enjoyed everything about it.
28/04/2019Richard
Our stay was absolutely perfect. Sarah was such a lovely and attentive host! She talked us through everything and even walks to go on as well as places to eat. Nothing was too much trouble at all! The hot tub was so worth the time and effort to warm up! We made some pizzas in the pizza oven while we waited for the hot tub to heat up. We also ordered a full English breakfast hamper, it was such a good decision. Everything was of such great quality and absolutely delicious! There were lots of really thoughtful finishing touches that really made our stay special. Don't get me started on the bed, it is the comfiest bed I have ever slept in. The duvets and pillows were so fluffy and soft, it made getting out of bed really hard! There's a lovely local pub about ten mins walk away that's definitely worth a visit! Also highly recommend Dickies farm dining for steak! (It's about a five min walk from the anchor) We can't will definitely be back!
26/04/2019Beckie
A great space, lots of attention to detail, incredibly relaxing
13/04/2019Laura
We found Austin the Shepard hut very warm cosy & welcoming, temperature outdoors about 4 degrees. The attention to detail was above & beyond the call of duty. The wood fired hot tub was simple to use if you follow the instructions. Sarah our hostess couldn’t do enough for us. in fact, she sent us a text message when she hadn’t heard from us after a couple of days to ask how things were and did we require anything. The locals in the Anchor pub in Plungar, a 5 min walk from the hut, are very friendly and involve you in all their conversations. The walks across the fields just beautiful and especially along the canal. Plenty of restaurants around and about. We used the Windmill at Redmile and the Dirty duck twice near Belviour (pronounced beaver) All in all a beautiful quiet relaxing 4 day unwind.
24/03/2019paul
Absolutely fantastic trip. The cabin was immaculate and beautiful. Fantastic service. Could not ask for more.
16/03/2019Joe
Perfect balance of outside and inside!
14/03/2019Jolene
I needed a nice retreat from everyday life and work and came across Austin at Tin and Wood. The huts looked incredible online, however the true beauty was seen in person. Despite the weather it was an incredible stay away. Sarah (the owner) is fantastic and will do anything she can to help make you feel comfortable. First class service!
12/03/2019David
My friend and I met here from Leeds and Manchester and both needed a break from work/life! As soon as we arrived we felt very relaxed and switched off. The hut is very spacious and the perfect place to unwind. We loved the pizza oven and hot tub, enjoying a glass of prosecco under the stars was amazing. Lots of local pubs and coffee shops nearby. Thank you for a great stay, we will be back!
03/02/2019Helen
This stay was to celebrate reaching half way of pregnancy and my birthday. As soon as we arrived in the freezing cold we were greeted by Sarah who took us through everything. We spent the first night by the fire playing games and eating nice food we made in the kitchen. The next day we did the walk Sarah recommended which was a 10 mile loop to Belvoir Castle, had lunch at the engine yard which I highly recommend. We spent the rest of the afternoon chilling at the cabin and lit the hot tub, because it was nearly zero degrees it took over 4 hours to heat, but was so so so so worth it. We popped to the Windmil pub for evening food, which was fab, then got in the hot tub when we got back and stared at the stars. One thing we do regret is not getting one of Sarah's breakfast baskets, so if you're reading this and planning to go... do it! And most importantly... enjoy. We'll be back!
01/02/2019Mitch
I took my boyfriend for his birthday and our 1 year together combined celebration. It was a lovely stay, always wanted to stay in a little place like Austin. Everything was easy and lovely.
29/01/2019Lidia
We had the most wonderful stay at Tin & Wood! It was a surprise for my boyfriends birthday, but we actually were both surprised by the whole experience. Sarah gave great recommendations for Sunday lunch (like the best we’ve ever had) and walks (13 miles of pure fresh countryside air) and the hut itself was absolutely beautiful. Our last night was spent cooking with the pizza oven before taking a dip in the hot tub. It was serene!
27/01/2019Vickie
Fantastic! This place has everything you could want. Set in a beautiful riverside location, a little slice of tranquility. Austin has been lovingly put together and placed in an idyllic location. A short walk from the local pub or a peaceful stroll a little further afield to another.
24/01/2019Emily
We enjoyed our stay in Austin, it was really cosy and surprisingly spacious for a shepherd's hut. Sarah was very welcoming and showed us everything we needed. It was a very cold weekend but it was nice and cosy in the hut with the underfloor heating and cosy bed! We used the log burner too which made it even cosier! It was nice and peaceful there, the only noises we really heard were the odd pheasant in the distance! It ended up being a bit too cold to successfully use the hot tub and pizza oven, although we did managed to make one very good pizza, and everything you need is there, even a rolling pin! It would be especially nice there when it's a bit warmer, with all the outside space and undercover eating area, so hopefully we'll go back at some point again.
19/01/2019Matt
A little slice of luxury in the English countryside. A fabulous place to get away from it all. The hut was lovely and spacious, stylish and comfortable but it was the outside space that made the stay really special. Our own hot tub overlooking the canal to while away the hours. I wish I could have stayed longer.

We had a lovely couple of nights in Austin. Our cabin was cosy. Everything we needed was there and on the edge of a beautiful wild flower meadow.

Sarah the host was lovely and very helpful. Hut itself was gorgeously done -very comfortable. Easy walks to pubs which was good. Pizza oven was fun to use and really made the stay a fun one.

Absolutely amazing - couldn’t recommend enough! The accommodation was amazing with little surprises and personal touches throughout. Sarah was always there if you had any questions too. Had the best time and would definitely return

We had a really lovely time staying in Austin. The owners had done a fantastic job in making each of the 3 huts feel completely secluded. Finish and quality throughout the hut was fantastic. We really enjoyed using the outdoor tub too!

10/08/2022Lisa
A great short get away, soaking in the bath at sunset and enjoying pizza from the pizza oven! Could not recommend enough.
13/07/2022Heather
We had the most lovely stay at the Austin at Tin and Wood! Such a peaceful and relaxing long weekend with beautiful views and walks. The hosts were friendly and helpful and they had thought of everything you could need for a little stay in their beautiful hut.
01/07/2022Rachel
We had the most lovely 2 nights at Austin . It was beautifully designed , comfortable cosy and clean We were lucky to have glorious weather and sat outside until late at night watching spectacular sunsets and enjoying the views and the peace and quiet
20/06/2022Carol
A wonderful little hut, with everything you would need for a peaceful stay. Small but perfectly formed, we loved the quirks of having to light fires to warm the outside tub and make pizza in the outdoor oven. The location is quiet and serene with lovely walks right on the doorstep. The hostess Sarah made us feel welcomed and was able to help us with any queries. The perfect stay, would 100% recommend and already can't wait to stay again
08/06/2022Jodie
Booked Austin for my boyfriends birthday, so glad I did, we had the best time. Everything was amazing, the hot tub was lush and easy to use, and the pizza oven was amazing also, we made some amazing yummy pizzas. The cabins were so clean and modern, Sarah had thought about so many little details. I would definitely recommend staying here and we can’t wait to come back!
01/06/2022Nina
Amazing 2 night stay in Austin, we wish we could have stayed longer! Warm welcome on arrival from Sarah with easy instructions in the hut on how to use everything. The pizza oven and wood fired tub were great, with extra logs available to buy if you needed them. The hut itself was immaculately clean with a big comfortable bed and stocked with all the things you need. We picked one of the recommended pubs and walked along the canal to the windmill Inn for lunch which was a lovely easy walk with nice views. Would definitely return. Thankyou!
18/05/2022Nikki
Super relaxing stay, it was really comfy and had everything that we needed. Loved waking up the sound of birds and the privacy the hut gave us. The pizza oven and wood fired hot tub were really good and easy to use following the instructions. The owner was so welcoming and the information provided was very useful. Hope to go back!
09/05/2022Sarah
22/04/2022Sheridan

28/03/2022Gary
09/02/2022Faye
After searching for a mini break for my partners milestone birthday I wanted something unique and different, I was on a budget and after searching through the website I came across tin and wood. It wasn’t a strenuous drive and it was exactly what I was looking for. The hut was beautiful decorated, with all amenities thought of, there was instructions and useful information on how to use everything within the hut which was extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend.
07/02/2022Hayleigh

Perfect.

I took my boyfriend for his birthday and our 1 year together combined celebration. It was a lovely stay, always wanted to stay in a little place like Austin. Everything was easy and lovely.

Fantastic! This place has everything you could want. Set in a beautiful riverside location, a little slice of tranquility. Austin has been lovingly put together and placed in an idyllic location. A short walk from the local pub or a peaceful stroll a little further afield to another.

A little slice of luxury in the English countryside. A fabulous place to get away from it all. The hut was lovely and spacious, stylish and comfortable but it was the outside space that made the stay really special. Our own hot tub overlooking the canal to while away the hours. I wish I could have stayed longer.
